Classic TV – I call her red

So guys, I decided to start a new category, column or however you want to call it. It’s going to be called (obviously) Classic TV and every week I’ll choose a scene from a TV show that I really liked or that means something to me to share with you. We’re going to have a little bit of everything: great lines, great music, hilarious, sad, deep, meaningful scenes.
I’m debuting this category with a classic for me, a scene that speaks about all those moments that we miss interpreted and over thought, for all the boys/girls that we liked a lot and hoped they did to, for all the wishful thinking and all the crushes we had, for all the falling in love and the adorable foolishness that comes with it!:)

For those of you who've never heard about My So Called Life I’ll give a very short explanation: Angela Chase (the adorable and witty redhead played by a very young Claire Danes) is like… crazy in love with Jordan Catalano (played by the very handsome Jared Leto) and goes to his band rehearsal after school. He starts singing a song  called “Red” so she obviously thinks the song is about her (cause she is a redhead:)))) hence the stupid happy grin on her face. Later we (and she) find out that the song was actually inspired by his red car. The drama!!!!!
I don’t know about you guys but that happened to me a lot, not actually that but you know, just misinterpreting things and gestures, in fact I spent half of high school pretty much  thinking everybody was in love with me!:)

Do you ever get lost in translation, so to say?

Today's mood:)

They say a picture is better than a thousand words so instead of describing it to you I live you with this picture that captures perfectly my state of mind in this very moment.

So, how's your day so far?

Are you scared yet?

I should probably be cool and say I hate Halloween and I consider it to be an imperialistic holiday and another way for the USA to take over the world and brain wash everybody and bla bla bla but the honest to God truth is that I love it.

In fact I’m sad Halloween is not a big deal in Romania and we hardly celebrate it. I wish people would decorate their houses and yards with super creepy stuff and scare the crap out of me.

Can you see how much I love horror movies? I do. But besides the funny and entertaining part of this holiday, Halloween is a great occasion to free ourselves even if for one night and be whoever we want to be. Don’t mind the fact that based on that assumption 70% percent of the girls want to be some sort of a slut))))))), but hey, as I said, I don’t judge…(much).

Another thing that attracts me to Halloween is the kind of magic that it brings: all the lights and costumes, the kids. And let’s be honest for a moment here: we as a nation can be a little bit uptight and we take ourselves way too serious most of the time so a little bit of childish joy and fun wouldn’t hurt.

When I was 16...

When I was 16:

I saw the world through a magic colored glass and every emotion was oversized

I was crazy in love with two boys

I was dreaming with my eyes open and walking on clouds

I was insecure about everything except the fact that I will change the world

I was reading as if there was no tomorrow

 I discovered fashion

I started using makeup for the first time

   I had very long hair

I wanted something extraordinary to happen to me

I was feeling that my friends were not enough

I had my first kiss, it was super awkward!:))))

I was a drama queen  (still am)

I was living in my head

I was listening to boy bands

    I was awesome

I believed that when I’ll grow up everything will be easier and simpler

I was sure that by now I would be rich, have the greatest job ever and know everything I needed to know

I didn’t want to move to New York and thought living in Bucharest would be awesome

I wrote this article after reading this. The thing is - I kind of feel the same as I felt when I was 16, at least when it comes to some aspects of my life!:)

What were you doing when you were sixteen?

Forever Pin UP

The pin up style has made a comeback in this last decade. Even if the modern pin up girl is different from the “vintage pin up” girl this style has regained the popularity it had in the 50s.

Basically the pin up girls were models, actresses and celebrities who were considered sex symbols and took pictures that had a great appeal and were mass produced becoming part of the popular culture. These pictures could be cut out of magazines, postcards, calendars, posters and could be PINned UP (hence the name) on the walls.

Other pin-ups were artwork, often depicting idealized versions of what some thought a particularly beautiful or attractive woman should look like – kind of an ideal women of each decade.

Surely the pin up girls is not what she used to be but she still has her charms even if she changed her look and lifestyle: she may now have some tattoos, heavier make-up, maybe a motorcycle, who knows, she can actually be a burlesque dancer.:))).

Speaking of, you may wonder why has this style emerged as a trend in the recent years? Oh well, everything in this world has something to do with the all mighty www so it’s no wonder one of the factors was the popularity of Suicide Girls, an erotica website that features tattooed and pierced "alternative" models sometimes styled in 1950s-inspired pin-up looks.

Then Bettie Page, one of the most notorious pin-ups, was suddenly hot again mostly due to the biographical movie The Notorious Bettie Page from 2005. At the same time Dita Von Teese and burlesque were l’attraction du jour so you can see know how many little factors can snow ball at the same time and revive or even create a new trend. That's also how an old trend can become relevant again.
